All About Boomerangs
Written by Lorin and Mary Hawes
Illustrated by Rod Scott
Published 1975
This wonderfully informative book is in okay condition. The pages, pictures, and text are glossy with minimal wear. The hardcover and the dust jacket is a little warped and stuck together at the edges. This book would be a great gift for anyone interested in the art of boomeranging!
"Here at last is the definitive book on a subject about which most people have ideas-and generally wrong ones! 'A boomerang,' the authors explain, 'is not a boomerang unless it boomerangs.' And they proceed to demolish a collection of fallacies with a flourish of facts: non-returning throwing sticks are not boomerangs; true boomerangs are not weapons of war; boomerangs are not limited to Australia (true boomerangs, decorated with pure gold, were used by the ancient Egyptians).
But that's just a beginning. There are chapters devoted to the aerodynamics of boomerang flight; how to throw boomerangs; how to build your own boomerangs; how to build your own boomerangs; advanced techniques; fascinating statistics on records and performances. And there are dozens of line drawings and diagrams to complement the entertaining, easy-to-follow text.
With the help of this book, anyone can learn to throw a boomerang- and have the satisfaction of seeing it return."
